There has been much discussion in our industry over the years about HDBaseT interop:  what it means, what it doesn’t, can you trust it (or not)…

Basically, the three basic steps to check interop are:

    • Check for certification: only HDBaseT-certified products can be guaranteed for HDBaseT interoperability
    • Check for features supported: not all HDBaseT products are certified for all 5Play features.  Check whether the feature in question has been HDBaseT-certified
    • Check the manufacturer’s collaterals: sometimes vendors will add non-HDBaseT-related features that interfere with HDBaseT interoperability.  Check the fine print

The steps above can save you some time and headache down the line.

What’s your experience with HDBaseT and interop?

Might be a good idea to have a simple additional code with the certification to indicate what features the specific product has been certified for.

Video, Audio, Ethernet, Control, Power, based on individual manufacture’s specs. How many codes in how many colors do you want? I’m assuming Samsung would like toe sell Samsung product, Sony would like to sell Sony product. Trial by error, unless you check the list of manufacturers and their feature set out.

Rule of thumb, don’t promise anything to a client unless you have tested it.
